Most often, lupus that began in childhood continues to be active into adulthood and requires treatment and medical supervision. Current treatments generally help control lupus well.
Less often, the symptoms disappear, but we do not know if it is possible to permanently cure systemic lupus.
Rather, it is called prolonged remission, and regular monitoring is always necessary.
