Haemolysis

Haemolysis is the normal or pathological destruction of red blood cells. This destruction is the result of multiple processes, including autoimmune haemolysis. A red blood cell lives on average about a hundred days. Once the red blood cell is destroyed, haemoglobin is released and, if not in too large quantities, it enters a process of recycling and making a new red blood cell.
