Neutropenia

Neutropenia is a blood disorder that occurs when the number of neutrophils, one of the types of white blood cells found in the blood, is abnormally low. Neutrophils are involved in the fight against infectious agents in the body. People who have too few are therefore more vulnerable to bacterial infections and certain types of fungal infections. These infections can become serious or even fatal.
