Thrombocytopenia

Thrombocytopenia is a decrease in the number of platelets below 150,000 per mm3 in circulating blood. Components of the blood, platelets are small sacs without any nucleous, containing active chemicals which favour the process of coagulation. The opposite of thrombocytopenia is thrombocytosis or hyperplatettosis (too high a number of platelets in the blood).
