Interferon

Interferons are part of cytokines, small proteins secreted by different types of cells involved in immunity, which have a regulatory and stimulating action of the immune system. There are three types: interferon alpha; produced by monocytes; beta, by fibroblasts; gamma, by T lymphocytes. They work by inhibiting the synthesis of proteins and nucleic acids that allow the multiplication of viruses.
