Yes. It is a very rare disease that occurs much less frequently in children than in adults.
Systemic lupus occurs mainly after puberty, but it can start at any age, including in young children, with a less pronounced female predominance. The damage is the same as in adults, but kidney damage is much more common in children than in adults. Such complications must therefore be investigated several times a year. There may be exceptional genetic forms in children.
